This was excellent but the temperature of the oven worried me. All other recipes for overnight French toast telephone call for thirty to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Since 450 seemed very high, I baked at 450 for 15 minutes and lowered temp to 350 and broiled another xxx minutes. Information technology was overnice and crunchy on the outside and bread was Not at all soggy. Great dish for company.

The bones of this recipe are dandy! The upshot is the cooking instructions given. Cooking any type of egg broil over 375 is going to give you a half baked dish. I made the dish every bit the direction say (except I added actress cinnamon to the egg mixture as well every bit the pinnacle). I also added fresh blueberries prior to baking. I lowered the temperature to 350 and broiled information technology for a total hr. The result was a delicious staff of life pudding/french toast casserole. I hope this helps!

This dish is amazing!! Everyone was total but couldn't stop eating it! The bonus is y'all tin can make it the day before and pop it in the oven simply before serving. I used a sliced Italian crusty bread but it was also thin and not substantial enough and then I'll stick to the crusty French loaf, sliced about ane" thick, and solar day old for better absorption without getting mushy. Slap-up recipe! You lot won't regret it! Lorraine

This was very piece of cake to make and surprisingly delicious! I forgot to assemble the night before, so I made it in the morning and permit it sit for almost 90 min, checking every 15-20 min and pressing the meridian layer down to ensure it absorbed the egg mixture. I cooked for 35-xl min, and it puffed up tremendously. Information technology was notwithstanding a fiddling wet in the middle, so next time I'll probably reduce the heat to 425 or 400 and cook for 45-50 min. Seriously good, and an impressive presentation for little work! EDIT: The caramel on the bottom tin can burn if left in also long, even equally the top looks fine. Next time I'll stick with 35ish min.

this is delicious! instead of preparing information technology in the pan the night before, I unremarkably prepare it in a big bowl and exit it in the fridge overnight, stirring or shaking it whenever I walk by. In the forenoon I brand the brownish sugar/butter sauce while the oven is warming upwardly (takes about the same amount of time) and put the bread into the pan at that time. information technology'south really good - you don't need whatever syrup or anything!

Recipe Grouping Selection: 28, February 2015 ~ Loved it! Of all the French toast casseroles I've fabricated, this i has been our favorite. I made a one-half recipe and put information technology in a vii" 10 11" pan. Exist sure to spray your baking dish with cooking spray every bit the caramel sauce on the lesser wants to stick to the pan. The bread was cook all the way through and not the least bit mushy in the middle. That is why we enjoyed this recipe then much. I served this with scrambled egg whites, fresh oranges and the 'Absolute Best Pancake Syrup' from AR. It certainly didn't demand the syrup, but information technology was delicious, none-the-less, on this breakfast care for that will exist a echo in our firm.

Later on reading all the reviews I made a few minor changes to avoid the sogginess and called-for bug. Earlier placing information technology into the fridge for the night I mixed all the ingredients in the pan so the dark-brown sugar/butter mixture was non just on the bottom of the pan but spread throughout the bread. This besides helped make sure the egg mixture got to all sides of the bread. I used fresh challah and information technology looked very soggy but information technology all cooked well and puffed upwardly nicely. I skipped the brown sugar on height and cooked it at 350 for 50 minutes. It was perfect and so easy! If you're concerned about using eggs, I used egg beaters and couldn't tell the difference.
11/28/2015
This was ok. The season was bully simply the overall sogginess needs to be addressed. Only the top was crisp and firm, the innards were complete mush. I even dropped the temp to 350 and cooked for another xxx minutes trying to dry it out. Adjacent fourth dimension I volition try cubing the breadstuff a day ahead and let the bread dry/get a petty dried. Or maybe mixing it simply alee of the cooking. I don't know merely the mush has got to go.
04/03/2015
Just tried information technology and didn't have a lot of fourth dimension. Mixed everything the night earlier and put it in the oven in the morning time while getting ready for work. My friends at work LOVED it so much I had to transport them the recipe, WONDERFUL dish

Recipe Group selection 28 Feb fifteen-- Merely two of us would exist eating this so I halved the recipe and used an 8 x 8 glass dish. Definitely grease your baking dish!! I prepared this the dark before while I was preparing dinner. I had limited stove space and so I used the microwave to melt the butter and saccharide. I used some brown carbohydrate that was rock-hard and it softened right up in the microwave. Because the casserole sat in the fridge all night in a drinking glass dish, (I was worried a cold drinking glass dish would shatter in a hot oven) I allow the dish warm upwards a bit on the counter earlier putting it into the toaster oven. This recipe is quite good! No complaints here. I think it would be practiced with toasted pecans or even bacon for that "sweetness~n~salty" flavour. Maybe next time! Also as mentioned in another review, this is good fifty-fifty without syrup.
04/06/2015
I made this for Easter breakfast and it was perfect!! I followed the recipe exactly, without adding annihilation extra, and it was delicious as is (no syrup needed). Merely difference was I think my loaf of bread was a little bigger (11 oz I believe) and information technology was a crusty Italian staff of life. This made my family very happy and I will definitely make information technology again.
01/16/2015
Instant family unit favorite! The aroma in the kitchen as information technology bakes is lovely. Use quality spices and pure vanilla extract- tin can't go wrong. Delicious!
12/xi/2016
One of the best overnight French toast goulash I've ever had ! Sure, you tin add this and that to information technology , as many reviewers suggested, but it wouldn't be "EASY French toast casserole" anymore. That's what I liked near it. Uncomplicated cubed stale breadstuff, eggs and milk and the bonus caramel that makes this not need any syrup or whatever other toppings. My pan was 9 x thirteen, so I needed more like eleven oz of bread. I used a very stale French baguette and it soaked up all the milk/egg mixture. And I simply used the microwave to brand the caramel. Also, I but used v eggs (all I had ) and it worked fine. I volition keep using just that much in the futurity. Concluding, I baked at 425 and it was set and perfectly aureate dark-brown in 30 minutes. The whole family unit loved information technology.
06/28/2015
Divine! Fabricated it for a church breakfast (made 2 pans at in one case the night before), and it was a striking. Got lots of complements. Very rich; sugary and buttery. I loved the way the brown carbohydrate carmelized to the lesser of the pans. I didn't accept French staff of life, and so I used Cinnamon swirl staff of life and omitted the cinnamon on meridian. Someone else had brought fresh blueberries, and my husband ate them with it and said it was great that manner. I can also see adding pecans to the sugar/butter on bottom and/or blueberries or apple chunks mixed in with the bread. So quick and piece of cake. It'southward a keeper!
03/01/2015
Caramel goodness! We truly enjoyed this dish! I cutting the recipe in one-half since I was simply serving two. Delicious, served information technology with a side of bacon and coffee. Neat weekend breakfast. Recipe grouping option 2/28/15.
02/28/2015
Delicious! Be certain to spray the casserole dish with baking Pam. I did not use the extra sugar to keep top of the bread. I didn't utilize all the liquid. I call up I had 1/2 loving cup leftover of the milk and egg mixture. I drizzled it and permit the bread absorb information technology. Will definitely make this a staple in our house. Thank you!
05/eighteen/2015
It was good, but still a picayune soggy in the eye, which is always my fright with French toast overnight casseroles.
12/09/2015
I am writing as the last remains of the casserole, yet steaming, are being scooped up. This dish is a delish striking! I prepared this last nighttime and it was so piece of cake to make. I have guests visiting from far abroad and afterwards days of sight seeing I was at a loss for breakfast ideas for this morning. I had some leftover bread from ii days ago and decided to make French Toast Casserole. I am then glad I did! I made a one-half recipe and that was plenty for six adults. My guests were in honey with this dish and asked for the recipe. We loved the crispy bits, and the caramel. We fifty-fifty made plans for the adjacent time! We had whip foam on hand and maple syrup. Next fourth dimension nosotros'll serve it with vanilla sauce. Another suggestion is an apple compote with raisins and walnuts. I'm definitely going to brand this over again!
02/26/2015
Delicious! I ripped upward ciabatta buns that were a mean solar day or two old, instead of staff of life and cooked it about 40 minutes. the buns prevented it from getting mushy and i was able to employ up my leftover buns. A crowd favourite
03/03/2015
Recipe Group: Loved the ease of this recipe. Well, except for the part where I had to clean the pan! I cutting the recipe in half and used my deep round casserole, so I used almost of my 11 oz loaf. Turned out sweetness and scrumptious, needs aught but a side of fruit and a nice cup of coffee. Yummy, cheers for the recipe Heather!
10/28/2016
I fabricated this for "brinner" (breakfast for dinner) on a chilly fall night, with some scrambled eggs, sausage, and fresh fruit. It was super easy to make with ingredients that I mostly had on manus. I did not refrigerate overnight, so instead mixed the egg mixture WITH the bread in a large bowl and and so added it to the 9x13 pan. Other changes I fabricated: substituted half and half for the milk, omitted the vanilla and added 1tsp of basis nutmeg to a white saccharide and cinnamon mixture I sprinkled over the peak. It will burn on peak if yous don't watch it closely and then be aware of that, as well. Dished up and served with existent butter and syrup. Succulent eggy cinnamony goodness!
05/21/2016
It's OK if you don't set it the night earlier! (oops!) In the morning, I followed the recipe and placed the dish in the freezer for about 10 minutes while the oven was preheating. Also: I did not sprinkle the cinnamon on tiptop before information technology went to the freezer. Instead...while information technology was in the freezer, I shook upwardly brown sugar and cinnamon in a ziploc sandwich bag. I didn't measure. I used more cinnamon than the recipe calls for. Once the oven was prepare I sprinkled my brown saccharide/cinnamon mixture on acme. This dish is amazing, even if you forget to gear up it the night before! The bottom is like a sticky bun! ANOTHER VARIATION: Another time I made this I forgot to buy french breadstuff. I cut upwards leftover hamburger rolls and white breadstuff loaf. Nobody noticed :)
02/13/2015
No syrup needed! Throw some fresh fruit and powdered saccharide on the summit and you are ready to become.
03/13/2016
Followed the recipe exactly and it was FAR too mushy. Taste was good, but texture overruled that. May try again merely reduce milk/egg mixture.
05/21/2017
This was excellent! I made a 10 x 13 pan using 20 oz. of french bread torn into bite size pieces and an 8 x 8 pan using a four-pack of gluten-free ciabatta rolls. I kept the residual of the recipe as given (except that I swapped out ane/ii the brown sugar for Splenda brown saccharide and 1/ii the eggs for eggbeaters). I tossed the bread in the milk and egg mixture to exist sure the bread was all soaked before I spread information technology on elevation of the butter/brown sugar mixture in the pans. Because I was baking both pans at the same time, and considering I used more breadstuff than in the original recipe chosen for, and considering many of the comments said it was soggy, I baked it longer and at a lower temperature - covered at 400 for 25 minutes; and then another twenty minutes uncovered at 425. I inserted a knife bract in the centre to be sure information technology was done, and it came out dry. Information technology was easy and tasted fantastic! Thanks for the recipe.
03/18/2016
This was delicious!... instead of regular butter, i used cinnamon and brown sugar love butter. the only affair i would change is i would layer the butter and saccharide mixture between the soaked bread rather than solely on the bottom.
12/14/2016
So easy and succulent! I did not permit it sit down for viii hours. I prepared it and popped it right in the oven. Too added pecans on top. Brought it to a brunch, it was gone in 5 minutes! Received many compliments.
01/24/2015
I used only 5 eggs for this. Came out bang-up.and utilise fat costless half and one-half. Make sure u gustatory modality mixture is right for spices because u can always add together more depending on season. The review that said soggy didn't cook long plenty. Use your own judgement may take longer.
12/25/2017
I made this with simply minimal changes and information technology was great. I used a 12oz loaf of crusty twenty-four hour period old french bread and one less egg. We were not in a hurry so we baked at 350 degrees for 1 hour and it turned out perfectly. The last time I tried to make 1 of these casseroles information technology turned out to be an eggy mushy mess, but this recipe was cracking and we volition definitely use it again next Christmas.
01/28/2018
Made this for the family and it smelled amazing! The trouble was information technology turned out too soggy on the directions given, and honestly was a little "eggy". I think I'll use some of the recommendations on here and go with v eggs instead of half-dozen and melt 350 for fifty min - 1 hour.
12/30/2017
I made this equally directed with two exceptions. I used a loaf of 2 day old cinnamon bread AND, I had to melt it at 350 as other casseroles needed to be baked at that temp at aforementioned time for our brunch. Broiled for virtually 50 minutes. No soggy center. Perfect!
06/09/2016
I take to share this recipe every time I make it! I ran out of vanilla after a tsp so I substituted almond extract and it was even ameliorate!!
12/05/2015
Nosotros make this all the time, my family unit LOVES it. Serve it with cream cheese and berries. OMG. This is our favorite early morning football breakfast. Become HAWKS!!
04/24/2015
This recipe was awesome. Everyone at work loved it. I added cinnamon to the egg mixture and also sprinked on summit earlier refrigerating. It was very delicious.
12/xiii/2015
Added raisons and candied pecans
12/27/2017
This was ok..the bottom was a little to sugariness for us. Over all the flavors were good. Cover dish during cooking with tin foil and remove 5 minutes before cooking is complete to chocolate-brown the peak. I would mixthe staff of life and egg mixture too before cooking.
01/26/2015
I love this recipe extremely my family and I would for now on savor our holiday mornings with this amazing recipe good work :)
12/25/2015
Made it exactly. And flipped information technology similar others suggested after I was done. I cleaned dish immediately so didn't take the sticky remainder. I liked the thought of flipping and letting the sauce baste down throughout casserole. Got many compliments.
12/06/2015
I've made this exactly as written. Both times the pan was scrape make clean past the breakfast eaters. Make sure to brand information technology the night before and you are good to become!
10/17/2015
This dish is absolutely divine! Very filling too. I didn't put information technology in the refrigerator overnight just made it like the frying pan version and it withal tasted delicious. I did sprinkle actress brownish sugar and cinnamon on top. Had to conform the temp. since my oven cooks hotter, baked it until it came out crunchy dark-brown on top and crispy at the lesser. The eggs should gear up once cooled and since I made the whole recipe, lots of yummy leftovers??
12/27/2017
This is an absolute must for Christmas morning! Super easy and anybody raves virtually how wonderful it is?? IF you have leftovers (never happens in my house) it does reheat well in the microwave.
10/13/2019
This is my go-to recipe for when I have overnight guests! Though I accept tweaked it accordingly from others' feedback. I detest soggy French toast and then I don't make it the nighttime earlier. I gently fold the bread pieces into the egg mixture in a mixing bowl and dump it into the pan over the caramel sauce, so the sauce stays in the lesser. I always add more vanilla and cinnamon (but eyeballed). I bake it on 400 for 35-45 minutes, checking information technology when information technology gets shut to the end, and about 5 minutes before intake information technology out, I sprinkle a streusel mixture on height (butter/flour/chocolate-brown sugar) and bake information technology, and so the elevation gets actress crunchy. It'due south delicious and leftovers, if any, reheat great!
08/12/2017
I used a little less milk and didn't let it sit over night. I baked it at 350 for about 45 mins. Information technology wasn't soggy or dry. It was delicious and was a hitting with everyone! I will definitely make this again!
10/13/2015
I had a agglomeration of leftover croissants from a family unit gathering and used those to make this. Information technology was actually very good! I had to cook mine a bit longer to become rid of all the actress "juice", about x-15 more than, simply nigh one-half way through I had to add together foil and so the summit wouldn't burn. So perhaps that was why the actress cook time. Also, I forgot to add the brown sugar sprinkle on superlative but it didn't need information technology. I will definitely brand this again!
04/07/2020
This recipe is succulent! The only change I would advise is to mix the chocolate-brown sugar/butter sauce in with the bread and eggs at the same time instead of spreading it on the lesser first! This change fabricated the recipe taste like bread pudding and avoided the glutinous bottom role that you try to scrape onto your cut piece of casserole! I too broiled it for 15 mins at 450 degrees then lowered the temp to 350 for the remaining 30 minutes. These small changes made a huge deviation!
08/11/2015
dandy way to apply stale leftover bagels. I cook the butter & sugar (both reduced by about one-half for a smaller glass dish) in the bottom of the pan, and add some cinnamon, before adding the staff of life $.25 & mixing in the egg/milk/vanilla mixture. Then i make sure to move it all effectually plenty that the bread really soaks upwards the mixture. Put in the refrigerator & let it rest overnight for a quick cook/repast the next morning. For our oven, the halved version is set up in nigh 25 minutes. The edges go crispy, but I similar that, at about 30.
10/26/2015
I decreased the milk to 1 one/2 cups hoping to avoid it being mushy and used the whole loaf of french bread and information technology turned out perfect.
02/07/2018
It was delicious. I added simply ane/3 cup of chocolate-brown sugar and it was perfect. I'd definitely make this again.
04/05/2015
This was splendid--and elementary to make. I made one as directed in the recipe, and some other one dairy-free (with soy milk, and I left out the sugar/butter mixture in this ane). This was a dandy Easter brunch item.
11/15/2015
Fabricated this goulash for a family brunch for 12 people. It was a Hitting! Fabricated it exactly as the recipe is written! I've fabricated some french toast casseroles in the past that are very dry and needed syrup, just this one was very moist ! Thank you!
09/07/2015
This Goulash was AMAZING!! I did change a few things because I was non prepared for the recipe and was looking for a style to apply our Sandwich breadstuff that got smashed. =( So I used Sunbeam Texas Giant bread, smashed, lol. I didn't have enough milk and then I used coffee creamer (Coldstone Sweet Cream). Which I believe made it a little on the sweetness side for me(non a big sugariness eater). I followed everything else to a T. I even added 4oz of cream cheese as the recipe suggested. (This broke upwards the sweetness quite well from the creamer). We live in Texas, and my cook time concluded upwardly existence 25 minutes. This Goulash was beautiful and my 3 kids loved information technology!! We will be keeping this ane for sure!!
04/05/2015
This was excellent--and simple to brand. I fabricated one equally directed in the recipe, and another one dairy-costless (with soy milk, and I left out the saccharide/butter mixture in this one). This was a keen Easter brunch item.
04/13/2016
Thank you for sharing this recipe. Afterwards 50 minutes the center was soggy then I cooked it x more, the edges got crisp but the center was still too soggy for me. The flavour, yet, is fabulous! Only I think I'll stick to French toast on the griddle.
01/22/2016
Its a good basis to start, not plenty milk and sugar. I sprinkled nutmeg and cinnamon ON bread before pouring egg wash over. I added frozen berries so when fresh out oven drizzled bootleg maple syrup (aye, I brand my own) and it helped, only it needs more umph.
03/18/2018
Mine turned out first-class just I adjusted the recipe as it is flawed. 8oz of bread is as well piddling for that much liquid which is why many ended up with slop. I doubled the bread (used my leftover sliced baguette from New Years that was in the freezer). I had to work to go xvi oz. to absorb the liquid. Then I used convection broil at 375 degrees for forty minutes. With those adjustments it was perfect.
07/07/2017
One of the easiest and delicious breakfast casseroles I have ever made! I doubled the recipe for work and followed recipe to a T except did non sprinkle more than carbohydrate on top...doesn't demand it! I used two loaves of skinny crusty French staff of life and was concerned about the corporeality of liquid and appearance a chip soggy after leaving it in refrigerator overnight. Don't worry! Information technology plumped upwards nicely and came out perfectly with a nice crisis on summit if you lot melt information technology at 350 degrees for one hour in a larger aluminum throw abroad pan (since I doubled the recipe)! At to the lowest degree half of the employees asked for the recipe. I brought syrup but hardly used as information technology really doesn't need it. Enjoy!
04/07/2017
I melted the butter and chocolate-brown sugar in the microwave. Used French bread cut into approximately 1 one/ii inch slices. The next morning time the egg/milk mixture was completely sucked up in the read and I was worried about it being too dry while it was cooking (and I went back to bed). Merely I didn't cover it and after thirty minutes took it out and it was completely fine. Great tasting but very sweetness. The extra brown sugar on pinnacle definitely isn't necessary. This is smashing served with a fresh fruit.
03/05/2017
This recipe is a keeper. I fabricated a few changes and variations. The starting time batch I made, I chopped upwards three apples and took some raisins and made a compote and added it in to the bread mixture. I made a lilliputian extra of the carmel sauce and I layered information technology in the casserole instead of putting it all on the bottom. The second batch I fabricated, I decreased the egg past one and I added pecans in the mixture and on acme. I also put almost one/8 cup of dark-brown sugar into the egg mixture. I also cooked it for ten minutes at 425 and the remaining 20 minutes dropped the oven down to 350. The recipe came out perfect!
09/13/2015
I'd been hearing so many rave reviews near French Toast Casseroles that I decided to brand two different ones for a brunch we had planned this forenoon. I made it equally written except for adding a picayune actress cinnamon to the chocolate-brown saccharide mixture, and making it almost ii hours before baking. I did printing the bread down a few times, to make certain information technology was all saturated. Although this was edible, it was besides custard-similar for near palates and was the one that didn't get slicked upward like the other. I won't be making this one once more.
07/xiv/2017
Skilful flavour merely bread on height didn't soak upwards plenty milk/eggs and was burning while bottom was soggy.
09/30/2019
I lost this recipe for a while and thank goodness I found it once again. This is my favorite recipe of all time I recollect. I could consume the whole pan. Warm, common cold it doesn't affair. I actually utilise Good for you Life low carb wheat breadstuff and it is delicious. I substitute almond extract for vanilla excerpt. I too apply a lot of cinnamon in the egg mixture as well as on top. This morning time I put a spoonful of pumpkin cream cheese on summit before heating in microwave for breakfast.
02/24/2018
This is such a great get-to recipe. I utilise information technology a lot EXCEPT, I remember in that location is fashion too much fat with that much butter and cut it dorsum to one/three cup. I also poured the brownish sugar sauce over the bread after I added the egg mixture. Information technology go all brownish and crispy when I broiled it. Yum!
10/14/2015
I made it for co-workers and they loved it. Thank you.
05/07/2017
Fabricated this for a group of 5 visiting "bikers" and they loved information technology. Fabricated only a few small changes. I used half & half in place of the milk but because I needed to utilise it up. Also, the top started to brown too apace at 450 so I lowered temp to 350 later on xv min and broiled an boosted xv minutes. This created a nice crunch to the meridian and the inside was set merely not mushy. As well, I used a fourteen oz loaf of Challah staff of life. Served with syrup on the top.
07/08/2015
I used challah as opposed to French bread. This recipe is super-succulent and piece of cake!
02/02/2018
Loved all the flavours. Started with thick slices of stale cinnamon raisin bread. Used Saigon cinnamon. Sprinkled a few frozen blueberries around the perimeter of the triangle slices. Put sliced maple syrup, strawberries and whipped foam on the tabular array. Everyone had seconds. Guests who don't bake asked for recipe.
12/25/2016
This was the nigh delicious breakfast dish ever! The brownish carbohydrate/butter crust in combination with the bread that soaked in the milk/vanilla mixture overnight fabricated this fabulous! The but alter I would brand is to take it out of the oven maybe two-three minutes earlier. The crust started to burn down in a couple of spots, but it could accept been the glass pan that I used. It was still utterly succulent and easy! My entire family enjoyed it, picky kids and all!
11/16/2018
I followed the basic instructions simply since I was making this for my works Breaksgiving and my family is selfish I used more bread and did one cream cheese and apples and the other pecans and drizzled with maple syrup. As a finish I made a loose caramel sauce of butter , brown saccharide and a splash of milk. I'm giving four stars because I don't know what they'll think. I sampled the family'southward and it was on point with the boosted sauce. Without it it seemed flavorless. If I had information technology to do over. I'd add bourbon to the egg mixture, and to the Caramel topping. That would be 5 star!
04/22/2017
It'due south expert! Permit my breadstuff sit down out for 24 hrs, and I didn't have whatever problem with soggyness. Reminder to cocky for side by side fourth dimension, listen to the recipe, 1 inch pieces. Perhaps effort less butter next time.
04/12/2015
I haven't had the opportunity to endeavour but it looks super easy and crawly! I am responsible for breakfast for 50 at church building in ii weeks and I am making this - can't wait to post nearly it later!
07/21/2018
Only change I made was adding the bread to the liquid, soak and then pour into pan. I have fabricated this 4 times and everyone loves it.
05/14/2017
Substituted i/2 a cup milk with i/2 cup Irish cream! Wow it was wonderful! Great for Sunday brunch with family!
08/04/2018
I made information technology according to the directions. It came out throughly cooked through and super sweet. If I brand information technology again I would reduce the carbohydrate.
01/14/2016
Pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used freshly broiled french bread, bananas and raisins. I simply soaked it all for about iii-4 hours, which was perfect. It looks actually pretty with powdered sugar on elevation. Highly recommend.
ten/28/2016
This was a large striking! I followed the recipe exactly as written and it turned out perfect. The only slight modify I made was to mix in the cinnamon into the egg mixture (instead of sprinkling it on superlative) and I also put in a little nutmeg. I made this for 8 adults and everyone loved information technology - next time I will brand 2 pans because it disappeared a little likewise quickly!
12/24/2014
My family loved this!
03/09/2018
The one star was Only considering the temperature in the recipe is Style to high. It should be broiled on most 350F. Get-go time I made it the top burned well before information technology was cooked through.
01/01/2018
Very good. Piece of cake and succulent. This went over well with a houseful of vacation guests. I had to apply Italian staff of life since French was not available at the store. I was worried that fresh Italian breadstuff would be too soft so after cubing the bread I toasted it lightly under a low broiler earlier associates. I used the other ingredients listed and followed the method exactly with exception of a slightly lower oven temp and 55 min baking time. I used a stainless pan (I would never employ a glass pan above 375 and would fearfulness a common cold glass pan in a hot preheated oven might shatter). I covered the pan tightly with foil and cooked at 400 for 15 minutes. Then I turned up to 425, removed foil and cooked uncovered for nigh 20 minutes. It puffed up beautifully but was browning too much so I reduced the temp to 375 and tented loosely with foil once more for the final x-xv minutes. It was perfect. Information technology had a crisp exterior and a soft interior just not mushy or burnt at all. I'll do this again for holiday breakfasts. Easy merely succulent enough for a special occasion.
09/16/2018
Everything was soggy merely the very top. The bottom was cipher simply butter. After baking it an extended amount of time I mixed information technology all around and broiled it some more but information technology was nonetheless so soggy. This was a large disappointment considering of information technology having so many expert reviews.

I have fabricated French toast casseroles before, only this one needs tweaked. Followed the directions to a T and the dark-brown sugar burned on the lesser. 450 degrees for a one-half an hour ends upwards burning the bottom. Beware! Either scale downward the brown sugar or plow the heat fashion down.

Was better the second tie around with a few modifications. I mixed the brown sugar and butter in all of the bread mixture and non only on the bottom. Make sure to mix the egg/milk mixture soaking all of the breadstuff. I sprinkled more cinnamon and brown sugar on the top earlier baking. Baked at 425 for fifteen minutes so turned down to 350 for 30 minutes. Perfect, slightly crunchy on the outside and moist in the middle. Very flavorful. Served with blueberries and strawberries on the side.

Fabricated this for my family's almanac Christmas brunch this year. Information technology was a huge hitting! I did add most 3/iv cup toasted pecan pieces to the butter/dark-brown saccharide mixture. We loved that addition. Easy dish to make alee. I would suggest blistering at 400 degrees rather than 450. It browned a flake more than I wanted, and I took information technology out of the oven after only 25 minutes.

I made this and it was delicious. Information technology disappeared and so fast. I run into that some people have a problem with it beingness soft in the middle, but I did not accept this trouble. I think that oven temperatures vary and that is why this problem is nowadays. I cooked it on 350 for ane hour, but checked it subsequently a half 60 minutes and information technology came out so skillful. I will definitely be making this again.

I likewise ordinarily brand 1.5 times the liquid for plenty breadstuff to fill a pan, just plenty to moisture all the bread. I likewise utilise whatever type of bread and it always is delicious.

I served this at a ladies grouping breakfast. Although I doubled it and the dishes were not identical everybody seemed to dearest it. I dish had canned fried apples topping it, plus blueberries and pecans. The other dish really had more than liquid and I left out the apples. I probably cooked information technology longer too. Both were wonderful. I don't think this recipe tin can exist messed upwardly.

Like shooting fish in a barrel breakfast for decorated weekend/holiday! my only trouble was the caramel sauce on the bottom burned. no bug with soggy bread, simply burnt caramel sauce. flavor was good otherwise. I followed the recipe exactly with 1 exception, I substituted half the milk for heavy cream (I always use cream in my French toast and omelets). we used a fresh loaf of Italian bread, not dried or crusty, but a nice fluffy loaf that was diced. Information technology soaked up most of the mixture in v-10 min. Next fourth dimension I will reduce the heat to 350-375 and cook a little longer.
